Shimla is all set to transform into a vibrant cultural hub as preparations gain momentum for the “Shimla International Summer Festival 2026”, scheduled from June 8 to June 12, 2026, across the Ridge and other iconic locations in the town.
The grand hill celebration will bring together an eclectic mix of events featuring folk culture, modern performances, adventure sports, food exhibitions, film screenings, art showcases, children’s activities, singing competitions, and public awareness campaigns—turning the town into a lively festival arena.
A major highlight of this year’s edition will be the “Shimla Swad Mahotsav”, a women-led culinary showcase dedicated to authentic Himachali flavours. The initiative will spotlight women chefs, self-help groups, homegrown food entrepreneurs, and custodians of traditional recipes, offering them a platform to celebrate and commercialize local cuisine.
The festival lineup promises high-energy attractions including Maha Nati, Zumba sessions, Chham folk dance, Mallakhamb demonstrations, and a special performance by the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA), Dharamshala. An art carnival titled “Rangon Ki Duniya” and a road safety awareness drive will further add depth to the celebrations.
Adding a competitive edge, the festival will host multiple marquee contests such as declamation events, inter-district volleyball championship, dog show, film festival, baby show “My Child, My Pride”, and the international singing competition “Voice of Mountains”, with prize money going up to ₹1 lakh across categories.
The culinary segment, Pahari Swaad Mahotsav 2026, will serve as a key attraction, featuring a curated selection of women participants. Shortlisted entrants will first compete in a cooking contest before being awarded food stalls during the main festival. Entries will be evaluated on flavour, hygiene, presentation, customer experience, traditional authenticity, and sales performance.
Winners of the food festival will receive cash awards of ₹51,000, ₹31,000, and ₹21,000, along with consolation prizes. Only a limited number of stalls—around 7 to 8—will be allotted, making the competition highly selective.
Applications are open from May 20 to May 29, 2026, with participation strictly through the official application process. With its rich blend of heritage, performance, competition, and cuisine, the Shimla Summer Festival 2026 promises to turn the hill capital into a living celebration of culture and community spirit.
