The Himachal Pradesh government has officially revised its holiday calendar, declaring May 28, 2026 (Thursday) as a gazetted holiday for Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) in place of the earlier notified date of May 27.
According to a notification issued by the General Administration Department, the change has been made in continuation of its earlier order dated October 23, 2025. The Governor has approved the revision, ensuring that the state-wide holiday aligns with the updated observance of the festival.
The order, issued from Shimla, directs that all government offices, educational institutions, boards, corporations, and autonomous bodies across Himachal Pradesh will observe the holiday on the revised date. The notification has been circulated to all administrative secretaries, district authorities, constitutional bodies, universities, police leadership, financial institutions, and public sector organizations for compliance and necessary action.
Departments have also been instructed to give appropriate publicity through the Department of Information and Public Relations, while copies of the order have been forwarded to key administrative offices, including the Chief Minister’s Office, Vidhan Sabha, High Court, Election Commission, and various state and central agencies.
The revised schedule ensures uniform observance of Bakrid across the state in line with updated festival timing, with the government confirming that all previously issued instructions remain applicable except for the change in date.
