Calling Himachal Pradesh a “living tapestry of faith,” Governor Kavinder Gupta on Tuesday proposed the creation of a dedicated Religious Tourism Circuit to seamlessly connect the state’s most revered shrines, Shakti Peeths and monasteries into one integrated spiritual route.

The Governor made the appeal after offering prayers at the sacred Maa Jwala Devi Temple in Kangra district, accompanied by Lady Governor Bindu Gupta. He said the initiative could transform the state’s vast spiritual landscape into a structured pilgrimage network, supported by improved roads, better connectivity and modern facilities for devotees.

Describing Himachal as “Dev Bhoomi” in its truest sense, he stressed that linking iconic shrines such as Maa Brajeshwari Devi, Maa Chintpurni, Maa Naina Devi and Maa Chamunda Devi, along with ancient temples and monasteries across the hills, would strengthen the state’s spiritual identity while unlocking new economic opportunities.

The Governor said religious tourism has the potential to become a major engine of growth for Himachal Pradesh, generating employment for local communities, boosting small businesses and helping preserve centuries-old cultural and religious traditions.

He also prayed for peace, prosperity and harmony for the people of Himachal Pradesh and the nation, seeking blessings of Maa Jwala Devi for collective well-being.

Urging coordinated action, he called upon the state government, the Ministry of Tourism and all stakeholders to work together to develop world-class pilgrim infrastructure without compromising the sanctity of the holy sites.

The Governor further appreciated the temple authorities and local administration for their efforts in maintaining the shrine and ensuring smooth arrangements for the steady flow of devotees.
