A spokesperson of the police department informed that the Special Task Force (STF) of district Kangra arrested three drug traffickers after recovering 223 grams of heroin (chitta) from their possession near Shastri ITI, Jasur.
Acting on specific intelligence during routine patrolling in the area, the STF intercepted the suspects and conducted a search, leading to the recovery of the contraband. The swift action was taken as part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and strengthen the mission of a “Chitta-Free Himachal.”
All three accused were arrested on the spot, and a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Nurpur. Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the drugs and uncover the wider supply network.
The spokesperson said this coordinated operation highlights the police department’s firm resolve to combat drug trafficking, protect youth from substance abuse, and raise public awareness against narcotics.
People have been urged to share any information related to drug trafficking by calling 112 or contacting the nearest police station. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
It was also mentioned that Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched a statewide anti-chitta campaign on 15 November 2025, under which STF and police teams are conducting continuous operations across the state.
The police department reiterated its commitment, under the leadership of the Chief Minister and with public support, to eliminate the drug menace and move towards a drug-free Himachal Pradesh.
