Educational leadership took centre stage as principals and senior school leaders from 29 Delhi Public Schools across the country came together for the three-day “Leading & Learning” Capacity Building Programme organised by the DPSS–Human Resource Development Centre, Noida, in the last week of June.
Designed to equip school leaders for the rapidly evolving educational landscape, the programme explored key themes such as innovative pedagogy, emotional intelligence, digital integration, inclusive school cultures and data-driven decision-making. The sessions encouraged participants to move beyond conventional administrative roles and embrace transformational leadership that fosters innovation, empowers teachers and prioritises student well-being.
The programme featured a distinguished panel of educationists and experts. In his inaugural address, V. K. Shunglu, Chairman, The DPS Society, highlighted the multifaceted role of school principals, emphasising institutional governance, financial prudence and value-based leadership. Legal expert Neeraj Grover, Advocate, New Delhi, shared insights into the legal dimensions of school administration, while Sandhya Awasthi, Executive Director, DPSS-HRDC, conducted engaging sessions on Mastering the Art of Lesson and Essentials of Leadership, inspiring participants to embrace lifelong learning and reflective leadership.
Representing DPS Shimla, Headmistress Veena Chauhan actively contributed to the discussions, sharing the school’s inspiring journey of growth and resilience. She highlighted the unique challenges of establishing the institution’s identity among Shimla’s long-established schools while navigating geographical constraints due to its location away from the city centre. She also spoke about the school’s sustained efforts to enhance academic excellence, strengthen community outreach and create meaningful opportunities for students that reflect the ethos and standards of the DPS family.
The programme served as an enriching platform for collaboration, allowing school leaders to exchange ideas, discuss shared challenges and learn from one another’s experiences. For DPS Shimla, the participation reaffirmed its commitment to continuous professional development, visionary leadership and educational excellence. The experience is expected to further strengthen the school’s mission of nurturing future-ready learners while upholding the values and legacy of the Delhi Public School Society.
