CM Sukhu on Wednesday said the Himachal Pradesh government will soon notify a new industrial policy aimed at attracting investment, generating employment and improving ease of doing business in the state.
Chairing a review meeting of the Industries Department, the Chief Minister said the policy is in the final stages of preparation and is being framed after consultations with stakeholders to make it industry-friendly and growth-oriented.
Sukhu said the government is strengthening the single-window clearance system and simplifying procedures to help entrepreneurs set up and operate businesses smoothly. He added that several reforms have already been implemented over the past three and a half years to improve the industrial environment.
Reviewing the progress of the Bulk Drug Park at Una and the Unity Mall project at Dharamshala, the Chief Minister directed officials to speed up work on both projects.
He said the Rs 2,071-crore Bulk Drug Park would provide major employment opportunities for youth and directed officials to invite reputed companies from across the country to invest in the project. Around 800 bighas of land has already been leveled and site development work is underway.
The Chief Minister also directed completion of the common effluent treatment plant and steam generation facility by July 15. He informed that the first installment of Rs 66 crore for the Dharamshala Unity Mall project has been released and site development work is in progress.
Sukhu further instructed officials to identify products under the One District Three Products initiative, saying the programme would strengthen rural economies, promote local products and create new livelihood opportunities across the state.
