In a major push toward environmental sustainability and modern public infrastructure, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu flagged off a fleet of 35 state-of-the-art electric buses in Hamirpur. Deployed across various depots in the district, these eco-friendly buses represent a pivotal step in the state government’s green mobility initiative, aimed at reducing carbon emissions and upgrading local transit.
Alongside the transport rollout, the Chief Minister dedicated a series of key educational and agricultural facilities to the region. He inaugurated an $8.64\text{ crore}$ state-of-the-art SRT Lab at the Deputy Director Agriculture Office complex, as well as a $1.50\text{ crore}$ Computer-Based Testing (CBT) Lab and a tablet-equipped digital library at Hamirpur Degree College. Expanding infrastructure further, he laid the foundation stone for a $9\text{ crore}$ girls’ hostel at the degree college, launched a dedicated book corner at the district library, and virtually inaugurated a $5\text{ crore}$ hostel at Sainik School Sujanpur Tira.
Demonstrating a strong commitment to rural livelihoods, CM Sukhu also launched six lift irrigation schemes built at a total cost of $3.05\text{ crore}$ under Phase-II of the Himachal Pradesh Crop Diversification Promotion Project. Spanning the Nadaun, Sujanpur, Hamirpur, and Barsar regions—including the Basol, Jasoh, Khatrod, Gharrat, Dakhol, and Thaon schemes—these new water supply networks are set to directly benefit over 320 farming families by supporting crop diversification and agricultural productivity.
