Governor and Chancellor Kavinder Gupta has constituted the Chancellor’s Inter-University Viksit Bharat-2047 Council to align all universities across Himachal Pradesh toward a unified national vision. Presiding over a Vice-Chancellors’ meeting at Lok Bhavan in Shimla, the Governor issued a 10-day deadline for every university to draft a 100-day roadmap centered on innovation, academic reforms, and best practices.
Nominated as the nodal institution, Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla, will coordinate joint efforts among universities, government bodies, industry leaders, and students. The task force will hold rotational quarterly meetings to review progress and encourage collaboration across research, skill building, and agricultural development—including advising farm and horticulture universities to connect research directly with rural livelihoods.
Taking a firm stance against substance abuse, Governor Gupta urged institutions to lead the Nasha Mukt Bharat movement by incorporating drug-free pledges, counseling, and active sports programs. In addition to releasing the inaugural edition of Lok Bhavan’s official magazine, he emphasized that higher education must balance healthy competition with institutional cooperation to empower youth as key drivers of nation-building.
