Governor Kavinder Gupta addressed a gathering at the Art and Culture Auditorium in Bilaspur to mark five years of the ‘Ek Se Shreshtha’ initiative, run by the Act to Transform Foundation. Highlighting the expansion of the initiative to 650 centres across the state, the Governor noted that the project currently supports around 12,000 children with free education, study materials, and guidance. He emphasized that grassroots efforts of this scale complement national frameworks such as NEP-2020, PM SHRI, and NIPUN Bharat by bringing equitable learning opportunities directly to rural and underserved communities.
During the event, Governor Gupta distributed laptops to instructors alongside essential supplies—including study tables, school bags, shoes, and tracksuits—to the enrolled students. He lauded the initiative for creating 692 direct jobs, with women accounting for nearly 90 percent of the workforce and 60 percent securing their first formal employment. By providing educational materials free of cost, the program has enabled over 12,000 families to save a cumulative ₹5.40 crore in educational expenses. Member of Parliament Anurag Thakur formally welcomed the Governor and detailed the operational roadmap of the foundation.
