Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has virtually launched the “Japan International Exposure Tour-2026,” sending 44 top-performing B.Tech students on a seven-day academic trip to Japan. Running from September 6 to 12, 2026, and managed by the Department of Technical Education, the program bridges theoretical studies with world-class engineering standards. The group—20 female and 24 male students—was chosen through a competitive, merit-based selection process from a pool of roughly 650 candidates across five state-run engineering institutes.
The week-long trip includes visits to major research, industrial, and academic sites, such as the JAXA Tsukuba Space Center, Tokyo Metropolitan University, Cyberdyne Robotics Studio, the Kyocera Osaka plant, and the JAL Aerospace Factory. Beyond receiving direct experience in aerospace technology, robotics, and advanced manufacturing, participants will gain insight into Japan’s workplace culture and heritage.
This venture aligns with the state government’s broader strategy to provide global learning opportunities across academic tiers, building on previous student tours to Cambodia and Kazakhstan, with plans underway for medical students. Drawing attention to Japan’s resilience and technological leadership, CM Sukhu urged the students to use this experience to build confidence and return with innovative ideas that drive Himachal Pradesh’s self-reliance.
