Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of 61 development projects worth ₹182.87 crore for the Rohru Assembly constituency of Shimla district during his visit to the area. The projects, dedicated at the Nagar Panchayat Ground in Chirgaon, cover key sectors including roads, drinking water, irrigation, health and education infrastructure.
Among the projects inaugurated by the Chief Minister were functional household tap connection schemes worth ₹2.76 crore in Badiyara and surrounding areas of Gram Panchayat Kulgaon, ₹5.20 crore for Chillala and adjoining villages in Gram Panchayat Bhampad, and a ₹3.40 crore lift water supply scheme for Sundha Bonda and surrounding areas. He also inaugurated a ₹4.75 crore lift irrigation scheme for horticultural land from Lahhasa to Shekhal and an ₹8.02 crore lift irrigation scheme for Kulgaon and surrounding areas.
Several road projects were also inaugurated, aimed at improving connectivity to villages and strengthening the existing road network. These included the ₹4.49 crore Kulgaon link road, ₹7.66 crore Jaloh to Gad road, ₹7.64 crore Shil Saungi Mandla road, ₹10.01 crore Chenu to Balson road, ₹7.22 crore link road to Melthi, ₹3.30 crore link road to Tikkari and ₹8.52 crore upgradation of the Khashdhar to Jakhi road.
Other completed road projects inaugurated during the visit included the upgradation of Bhamwari to Manghara, Jhalwari to Bhamwari and Dhamwari to Gokswari roads, along with several village link roads, including Andhra to Baggi, Goansari to Gokswari, Panmesari Dunna, Kitewari, Jishkoon and Jarkot. The ₹13.55 crore Narsai to Dalgaon road and ₹3.96 crore Government Senior Secondary School, Bhaloon, were also among the projects inaugurated.
The Chief Minister laid the foundation stones for a ₹25 crore, 50-bedded Critical Care Block and District Integrated Public Health Laboratory at Civil Hospital Rohru. In the education sector, foundation stones were laid for a ₹3.54 crore Science Block at Government Senior Secondary School Jaga and a ₹4.93 crore school building at Government Senior Secondary School Dodra.
A number of smaller road and connectivity projects were also taken up through foundation stones and Bhumi Pujan. These included roads connecting Buthara Bagharan to Nursery, Shalawat to the residence of Madnu Parshottam Dass, Kayani to Gedam, Gopesh Janartha to Prem Prakash Janartha in Kashani, Chirgaon to Tahli Chanti and Urroi in Gram Panchayat Banoti.
The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stones for several village link roads and restoration works, including Badiyara-Nandla-Magwani, Pump House to Brall, Kanewar Khad to Noi, Todsa Shagli to Gumma, Gumma Crusher to Tikkari, and links to Thalatar, HB Chamrara and Bartely. Road restoration works damaged by natural calamities were also included, covering sections such as Machoti to Saras, Kako to Shanwali and Saridhar to Bashuni.
Other projects taken up included construction and improvement works on Buthara Nursery to Katmori road, Chiku Dabar to Gadholi road, Buthara to Bagharna road, Paving of PHC Kuthara to Kuli road, metalling and tarring of Jakhar-Besharal-Thakulidhar road and the Pujarli-Sitli-Madidhar road. Additional works included ambulance access, slip removal and machinery deployment in the Samoli section, as well as road improvements connecting Dalgaon-Makri-Prem Nagar, Padda Nallah bus stand to Deit Shagul Kothal and other localities.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sukhu said the projects would strengthen basic infrastructure and improve the delivery of essential public services in the Rohru constituency. He said improved road connectivity would facilitate smoother movement of vehicles and strengthen the overall road network, particularly for residents of rural and remote areas.
He added that the various drinking water supply schemes would improve access to safe and reliable water for residents of the concerned villages, while irrigation projects would support agricultural and horticultural activities. The health and education projects, he said, would further enhance essential services and create better facilities for people in the constituency.
