₹5.78 Crore Financial Assistance To Be Transferred To 1,471 Construction Workers On Gandhi Jayanti

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will transfer ₹5.78 crore in financial assistance to 1,471 registered beneficiaries of the Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. The assistance will be transferred directly into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

Board Chairman Nardev Singh Kanwar said the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhu, was committed to ensuring that welfare benefits reached workers and other needy sections of society in a transparent, accessible and timely manner. The financial assistance is being provided under various welfare schemes of the Board to registered construction workers and their eligible dependants.

Under the Chief Minister Housing Scheme, financial assistance of ₹45.95 lakh has been sanctioned to widows, single women, destitute women and women with disabilities for construction of houses. Under the Education Assistance Scheme, ₹2.74 crore will be released to 968 beneficiaries to support the higher and technical education of children of registered construction workers.

Similarly, ₹1.83 crore will be provided to 359 beneficiaries under the Marriage Assistance Scheme. Under the Accidental Death and Funeral Assistance Scheme, ₹54.20 lakh will be released in 21 cases. A further ₹7.14 lakh will be provided to 30 beneficiaries under the Maternity and Paternity Benefit Scheme.

Under the Girl Child Birth Gift Scheme, families of 15 girl children will receive ₹7.65 lakh. Financial assistance of ₹2.15 lakh will be provided to 10 dependants with mental disabilities, while ₹25,000 will be released to one beneficiary under the Disability Pension Scheme.

Kanwar said the financial assistance would be transferred directly to eligible beneficiaries through their bank accounts across different districts and sub-offices of the state. In Hamirpur, 225 beneficiaries will receive ₹76.74 lakh, while 164 beneficiaries in Chamba will receive ₹70.54 lakh. In Sirmaur, 140 beneficiaries will receive ₹51.80 lakh, and 171 beneficiaries in Mandi will receive ₹64.80 lakh. In Kinnaur, 126 beneficiaries will receive ₹48.39 lakh.

In Kangra, including the main office and sub-offices, ₹1 crore will be transferred to 270 beneficiaries. In Shimla, 88 beneficiaries will receive ₹45.58 lakh, while 104 beneficiaries in Bilaspur will receive ₹32.98 lakh. Similarly, 72 beneficiaries in Una will receive ₹33.93 lakh, 63 beneficiaries in Solan will receive ₹30.51 lakh and 48 beneficiaries in Kullu will receive ₹21.43 lakh.

Nardev Singh Kanwar said the Board was continuously working to ensure that registered construction workers and their eligible dependants received the benefits of various welfare schemes in a time-bound and transparent manner. He said direct bank transfer was being used to ensure efficient and transparent delivery of financial assistance to beneficiaries.
