Speaking at the first convocation ceremony of AIIMS Bilaspur in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu, CM Sukhu emphasized that healthcare and education remain the state government’s highest priorities. He acknowledged the historical contributions and sacrifices made by the people of Bilaspur during the construction of the Bhakra Dam, describing it as a enduring symbol of national development and progress.
The Chief Minister highlighted that advanced medical infrastructure and diagnostic capabilities are being decentralized to ensure residents in rural and far-flung regions do not have to travel far for specialized treatment. Government healthcare institutions across Himachal Pradesh are now equipped with AIIMS Delhi-grade diagnostic facilities, including 3-Tesla MRI machines, PET scans, high-end X-ray units, and advanced ultrasound systems.
To make high-end medical care accessible to common citizens and economically vulnerable groups, the state has also introduced robotic surgery in government medical colleges. Furthermore, the administration is actively pursuing the addition of 320 postgraduate medical seats beyond the current 277, establishing North India’s first paramedical and allied sciences college, and laying the groundwork for an AIIMS-pattern Ayurvedic hospital.
