The historic Gothic Hall at Shimla’s Gaiety Theatre transformed into a vibrant canvas of youth, creativity, and passion as the fourth edition of the Bal Rangmanch Mahotsav officially kicked off. Set against the charming backdrop of the hills, this three-day theatrical extravaganza running from October 7 to 9, 2026, continues to champion young voices by providing them an unfiltered stage to express their boldest ideas, imaginative stories, and unique perspectives.
Now in its fourth consecutive year, the festival stands as a testament to Team Keekli’s unwavering dedication to youth empowerment and the transformative power of the stage. This year’s grand affair features enthusiastic participation from 16 institutions along with two special screenings, bringing together a buzzing community of young actors, educators, and art lovers under one roof.
Adding significant flair to the event, acclaimed actress and theatre artist Divya Jagdale joined as the distinguished guest. The performances are being evaluated by an expert jury panel comprising Dr. Purnima Chauhan, Anuradha Dar, and Aastha Shukla Chadha. The festival’s grand vision is further reinforced by the guidance of veteran theatre luminaries Shri Srinivas Joshi, Jawahar Kaul, and Rajan Kaushal, along with creative directors Vivek Mohan, Rupesh Bheemta, Sanjeev Arora, Kumar Shanu, and Adarsh Chauhan.
Opening day set a soaring benchmark with six spellbinding plays that captivated the audience from the very first act. Saraswati Paradise International Public School opened the day with Upahaas (based on a story by Ranjodh Singh), followed by Swaran Public School, Tutikandi, with Little Hands, Big Difference (by Manjula Gulati). Roots Country School, Bagi, brought lively charm with Bishuri Jalebi Pakode (by Richa Kashyap), while G.S.S.S. Sarog, Theog, presented the evocative The Soil Remembers (by Shreya Negi). Sambhota Tibetan School, Chhota Shimla, delighted with Piddu Chiddu Ki Katha (by Kishan Shreeman), before Sarvodaya Bal Ashram Rookwood closed the day on a high note with The Coffee Shop (by Kiaan Amrik Thakur).
Throughout the day, the young performers illuminated the stage with crisp dialogue delivery, expressive acting, and infectious confidence. Beyond being a mere annual event, the Bal Rangmanch Mahotsav has evolved into a movement where young dreamers find their voice—a legacy of pride, art, and inspiration that Team Keekli eagerly carries forward into the future.
