Governor Kavinder Gupta today urged the media to uphold truth, credibility, and ethics, emphasizing that responsible journalism is essential for a healthy democracy. Speaking at the Gems of Himachal Awards-2026 hosted by News 09 channel, he highlighted the vital role of journalists in bridging the gap between governance and society.
Addressing modern digital challenges, the Governor warned against fake news, unverified reports, and AI-driven misinformation. He stressed that accuracy must always take priority over sensationalism, urging media houses to give voice to the unheard and drive awareness on critical issues like cybercrime, substance abuse, and environmental protection.
He noted that constructive, fact-based reporting helps ensure government accountability and supports the vision of a Viksit Bharat. During the ceremony, Governor Gupta honored several individuals for their exceptional service to society, following an opening address by News 09 Managing Director Ajay Thakur.
