Marking ten years of clinical service, education, and research, the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, released a comprehensive decade report detailing its healthcare footprint. Between October 2016 and September 2026, the autonomous institute under the Ministry of Ayush provided clinical care to 37,74,524 patients across its main campus, satellite facilities, and national outreach centers, reflecting a rapid expansion in the adoption of traditional medicine.
The institute’s central campus in Sarita Vihar, New Delhi, accounted for the primary share of clinical consultations, treating over 30.37 lakh patients. Equipped with an Outpatient Department (OPD) capacity handling nearly 3,000 visitors daily and a 200-bed Inpatient Department (IPD), the flagship facility has steadily grown to manage complex health conditions through evidence-informed Ayurvedic protocols.
To make specialized care widely accessible, AIIA expanded operations through satellite and affiliated centers, including its Goa campus, Safdarjung Hospital, the National Cancer Institute in Jhajjar, the LBSNAA IAS Training Centre in Mussoorie, Ekta Nagar in Kevadia, and the UPSC Building. Together, these outreach centers served over 7.37 lakh patients during the decade-long period.
AIIA Director Prof. (Vaidya) P. K. Prajapati noted that public demand for Ayurveda surged dramatically during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Patient footfall at the institute experienced a fourfold increase, escalating from around 1.23 lakh annual consultations in 2020 to more than 5.40 lakh by September 2026. Released on the institute’s Foundation Day alongside KAUMARACON 2026, the report highlights AIIA’s commitment to integrating traditional medicine with contemporary healthcare practices through rigorous research and global collaboration.
