Addressing the Anti-Chitta Walkathon in Shahpur virtually from Shimla, CM Sukhu called upon citizens across Himachal Pradesh to unite against drug abuse and help build a healthy, drug-free state. Organized in the Shahpur constituency of Kangra district, the rally brought together students, community leaders, and local residents to raise awareness about the dangers of chitta and rally support for its complete eradication.
Speaking to the gathering, the CM emphasized that drug addiction severely impacts not just individuals, but entire families and communities. He highlighted that safeguarding young people—the nation’s future—requires a joint effort between the government, parents, teachers, and civic groups. Encouraging students to channel their energies into sports, academics, and creative pursuits, he urged them to become active messengers of positive change among their peers.
CM Sukhu reaffirmed the government’s firm commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and cracking down on illegal trade. Alongside strict legal action, he stressed the importance of widespread public awareness and requested citizens to report drug-related activities to local authorities to turn this fight into a true community-led movement.
Marking a major moment for local heritage, the Chief Minister declared state-level status for the Shahpur Dussehra Festival, a step aimed at giving a significant boost to the region’s cultural traditions. Present at the venue, Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania expressed gratitude for the cultural recognition and detailed ongoing anti-drug drives in Shahpur, while Advocate General Anoop Rattan underscored that active citizen participation remains key to freeing Himachal Pradesh from the drug menace.
