HimalayanSchool.9.10.15aTo mark the celebrations of the annual day students of Himalayan Public School, Shimla, organized a fun filled cultural program at Kalibari Hall, here today. City Municipal Corporation Mayor, Sanjay Chauhan graced the occasion as chief guest who was welcomed by the little angels of Class Nursery. The event began with the lighting of lamp by the Chief Guest, followed by the Annual Report by the School Principal, Bandana Goswami. She highlighted the achievements of the school during the year and laid emphasis on development of students in various walks of life — sports, dance, Yoga and said that their school is completely committed to students all round development. She also informed that 30 female students of school have been selected for a Yoga Competition at district level.

Little tiny tots from Class Nursery to IV including Ameeksha, Geetanjali, Ayush, Tanish, Yogesh, Anushka, Navodita, Sejal, Nishant, Arnav, Arnita, Ayan, Arni, Jahanvi, Sanvi and Kanishka; performed an energetic welcome dance on song swagatam.

HimalayanSchool.9.10.15bOn the other hand students from Class V to XI; including Mohit, Neeraj, Shrikent, Prakesh, Pratush, Rishabh, Rohit, Aditi, Prerana, Preeti, Mohit and Kush showcased their amazing Yoga skills that left everyone speechless. Little ones laid stress on Yoga for a better quality of life and the positive results that one can achieve by its daily practice.

Rachana, Geetanjali, Mehak, Ishani, Aakrti,Payal, Praul, Vivek, Neha, Aarti, Itisha, Pringal, Shruti, Aanchal, Muskan and Medha showcased their acting skills through an English play Reena’s Birthday. The story reflected on the double standards of our society. We all consider our children to be special whereas on the other hand we ignore other children. Reena’s parents had a female servant of same age group and often treated her as inferior being. However, Reena’s compassion for her opened her parents’ eyes towards her and gave a social message that one should try to help in uplifting the lives of under privileged ones and start respecting humanity.

Hindi play titled Hinsa Parmo Dharam enacted by Rabhjot, Mohit, Puneet, Vivek, Shivam, Prince, Aman, Bhuvan, Sahi, Priyansh, Aaditya, Anshul and Jaspreet gave a social message that brutality is a man-made problem and no religion shows the path of violence. Often mankind brings pain and sheds blood in the name of religion which in reality is in total contrast. Helping another human is the ultimate goal of humanity.

After that came the turn of dance performances including Rajasthani, Himachali, Lavani and Punjabi in which Puneet, Medha, Parul, Abhishek, Hitesh, Preeti, Jyoti, Mansi, Swati, Diksha, Nishan, Mangesh, Gorav, Sorabh, Devraj, Shaloo, Sunidhi, Shweta, Priya, Aanchal, Komal and Sanya forced everyone to tap their feet and clap with joy. Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay congratulated the staff of school and appreciated the role played by the teachers in the life of an individual. He stressed the need for parents to avoid forcing their dreams and aspirations on the shoulders of their children. He suggested that parents should let the free will of children exercised so that they become best of their kind.
