HPNLU Hosts International Conference On Women And Intellectual Property

The Centre for Intellectual Property Rights and Centre for Child and Woman Studies at the Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla is organizing a Two-Day International Multidisciplinary Conference on Women & Intellectual Property: Accelerating Innovation & Creativity. The conference is being held in association with the Himachal Pradesh Council for Science, Technology, and Environment (HIMCOSTE) from 26-27 April 2023.

Inaugural Ceremony:

Professors of international repute from renowned educational institutions across the world and India graced the inaugural ceremony held at the HPNLU Shimla campus. The conference aims to discuss various aspects of women’s contribution to the field of intellectual property. Eighty participants from 30 institutions worldwide are participating and presenting papers during the conference through both online and offline mediums.

Keynote Speakers:

During the inaugural session, keynote speakers discussed various aspects related to the role of women in the field of intellectual property. Prof. Enrico Bonadio, Reader at City, University of London discussed the nuances of women’s contribution to the field of IP. Prof. M.K. Bhandari, Director of GALTER, discussed the framework for bringing gender-parity in the field of intellectual property. Prof. V.C. Vivekanandad, Vice-Chancellor of Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur, discussed the institutionalisation of science as a discipline and its impact on women’s contribution to IP and innovation.

Organizers

The conference is being organised by Dr Chandreshwari Minhas, Associate Professor of Law, and Dr Chandrika, Assistant Professor of Law, under the leadership of Prof. Nishtha Jaswal, Vice-Chancellor, HPNLU Shimla.

Conclusion

The International Multidisciplinary Conference on Women & Intellectual Property: Accelerating Innovation & Creativity at HPNLU Shimla aims to highlight the role of women in the field of IP and their contribution to innovation and creativity. The participation of experts from different institutions worldwide adds to the value of the conference.
