Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla conducted a comprehensive review of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) projects, specifically focusing on the Kiratpur Nerchowk, Pandoh Takoli, and Takoli Kullu projects, at Raj Bhavan. The Governor sought detailed information about the progress and developments of these projects.
During the meeting, Abdul Basit, the Regional Officer of NHAI Shimla, informed the Governor that five tunnels have been opened for trial from Hanogi to Takoli. He highlighted that the work on these tunnels and 22 major bridges between Kiratpur and Nerchowk was nearing completion, with ongoing safety audits.
The Regional Officer further explained that the opening of these five tunnels from Kiratpur to Nerchowk would significantly reduce travel time by 3 hours. This improvement would benefit not only tourists but also local residents traveling to Kullu, Manali, Keylong, and Rohtang. Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla also sought detailed information about all the highways being constructed by NHAI in the state. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the environmental integrity of the state during highway construction.
The Governor expressed his intention to conduct a site inspection of the Kiratpur to Nerchowk and Pandoh Takoli sections to assess the progress being made. Abdul Basit acknowledged the full cooperation provided by the state government in completing the projects, with the Chief Minister personally resolving issues through regular review meetings.
