Vizag, Andhra Pradesh: Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan led a delegation from the Himachal Pradesh government to visit the Andhra Med Tech Zone (AMTZ), the world’s largest medical devices cluster.
Exploring Operational Dynamics
The delegation’s primary objective was to understand the operational dynamics of the facilities at AMTZ. They visited various common scientific facilities, including the Gamma Radiation Centre, Biocompatible Centre, and 3D design and printing lab.
Promoting Medical Device Park in Nalagarh (Himachal Pradesh Industries Minister )
Harshwardhan Chauhan discussed the plans for the upcoming medical device park in Nalagarh, Solan district, with the AMTZ team. He expressed the Himachal Pradesh government’s commitment, led by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, to boost industrialization and successfully implement the medical device park project.
Progress and Collaboration Opportunities
The Industries Minister informed the delegation that tenders for four medical labs have been invited, and the first phase of cutting and leveling for the Medical Device Park in Nalagarh has been completed. The state government has also provided its share to the implementing agency.
AMTZ CEO Dr. Jitendar Sharma provided an overview of the Park, which spans over 270 acres and was established in 2016. He mentioned that currently, more than 120 units are operational, manufacturing approximately 5000 medical devices. The Park’s annual output amounts to around Rs. 9000 crore.
Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing
Harshwardhan Chauhan invited Dr. Jitendar Sharma to visit Himachal Pradesh for knowledge sharing and further discussions. He also urged Principal Secretary Industries R.D. Nazeem to explore the possibility of seeking technical services from AMTZ.
The delegation included MLA Dharampur Chander Shekhar, Managing Director-cum-CEO HPBDPIL Rakesh Kumar Prajapati, Chief Engineer Jal Shakti Vibhag Hamirpur Vijay Kumar Dhatwalia, and other senior officials.
