YWCA Organizes Gender Sensitization Workshop

ywca.24.4 (1)The YWCA Shimla in collaboration with Utthan (An NGO promoting peace, gender, justice and equality) organized a workshop on Gender Sensitization at YWCA Shimla here today on the occasion of “World YWCA DAY”. The aim of the workshop was to generate public awareness and understanding regarding gender issues and to create gender sensitization. Vikas Kumar representing Utthan Panchkula inaugurated the workshop and while addressing the gather he emphasized on the importance of issues and objectives to be covered in the workshop, which focuses on the topic of ‘gender sensitivity’. Rohini Singh, General Secretary, YWCA, greeted and welcomed all the participants and briefed them about the World YWCA Day celebrations.

ywca.24.4 (2)Students from Himachal Pradesh University and various colleges from Shimla, members of the YWCA, Utthan and other NGOs participated in the workshop. Students of HPU staged a very touching play titled “Khamoshi” focusing on gender sensitization. The participants enacting this play were Khushboo, Babita, Nikita, Mukesh, Komal, Jagmohan, Sisdharth, Naresh and Ritesh. During the workshop inspiring speeches were delivered by Sheetal, Vandana, Tanuja and Mukesh on gender inequality. Group music performances by Abhay, Abhishek and Mark were quite entertaining as well as enlightening all touching today’s sensitive issue.
