Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while addressing a press conference here today condemned the derogatory and inappropriate remarks used by BJP and Shivsena leaders against the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He said that such utterances do not contribute to strengthening the democratic set up and the BJP High Command must intervene and pull the reigns of those outspoken leaders for such irresponsible remarks.

“In my personal capacity and on behalf of Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee, I strongly denounce the unconstitutional language used against Rahul Gandhi”, remarked the Chief Minister. Undoubtedly, he is the senior and one of the most respected congress leader in the country. Under Rahul’s Gandhi visionary leadership the ideology of Congress Party has strengthened the social fabrics and he represents the voice of millions of people who are disillusioned with the authoritarian policies of the Union Government led by BJP.”

The Chief Minister said that Minister of State in Union Government Ravneet Bittu had all praise for Rahul Gandhi, when he was the Member of Parliament representing Congress Party, but now he has compromised all his moral values in pursuit of power. He said that Sh. Bittu was concentrating on his image and position in BJP and to secure his berth in Rajya Sabha, ignoring public welfare. “Every political entity in a democracy has the right to agree or disagree but it is essential that dignity and respect is maintained in political discourse,” he added.

Rahul Gandhi undertook ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ to spread the message of peace and harmony amongst the people and has been continuously raising his voice against the oppressive and anti-people policies of the BJP Government. Being afraid of Rahul’s fame the BJP leaders seem to be perplexed and unable to digest his rising popularity resorting to un-parliamentary language against him merely to attract media’s attention.

People have not forgotten the sacrifices made by Rahul Gandhi’s family for the welfare of India. World knows that Former Prime Minister’s, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi laid down their lives for ensuring peace and integrity of the country, remarked Sh. Sukhu. He advised the BJP leaders to stop such mudslinging in pursuit of power and refrain for using undemocratic remarks against Rahul Gandhi who has always stood for the national unity and has emerged as a leader for the poor and the underprivileged.
