Two-Day Workshop on Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) at HIPA Shimla

The Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration organized a two-day workshop on Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) on the 17th and 18th of September, 2024. This event took place at the HIPA campus, Fairlawns, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh and was inaugurated by celebrated farmer from Karsog Nek Chand, Padam Shree.

While giving this information, Additional Director HIPA Parshant Sirkek informed that the workshop aimed to strengthen the understanding and capabilities of FPOs, with a focus on improving the agricultural value chain in Himachal Pradesh. The event was attended by 55-60 members of various FPOs from different districts of the State. These FPOs are working in fields such as crop production, dairy, poultry, horticulture, forestry, fishery, wool, and vegetable procurement.

He said that the key stakeholders from Government Departments, Horticulture, Agricultural and experts from Central Government agencies such as NABARD, NCDC and NAFED along with members of FPOs from across the state participated in the discussions. The event also featured interactive sessions, group discussions, and presentations by experts in the field. The workshop was aligned with the State Government’s vision to promote sustainable agriculture and enhance the income of farmers through collective efforts, he added.
