Danny Balbir Singh is an accomplished art educator and practitioner with a career spanning over two decades. His career goal is to work within a dynamic team environment that fosters both personal and professional growth, allowing him to showcase his full potential. His career reflects a profound dedication to art education and practice, marked by a wide array of teaching roles, accolades and exhibitions that underscore his impact on the art community.
Singh has extensive teaching experience, having served as an Art Teacher at Bishop Cotton School, Shimla, since February 2010. Prior to this, he taught at the same institution from July 2001 to January 2009, where he also held the position of Head of the Art Department. Between January and December 2009, he worked as an Art Teacher at Raffles International School in Behror, Rajasthan. His role in education reflects a deep commitment to high-quality instruction and innovative teaching methods.
Singh’s educational background is robust. He qualified for the SET (equivalent to UGC NET) in Drawing and Painting through the HP Public Service Commission in 1999. He holds a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from Kurukshetra University (1998) and a Bachelor’s Degree from Kotshera College (H.P. University, 1996). His early education was completed at Kotshera College (CBSE Board, 1993) and DAV Public School (CBSE Board, 1991).
With over twenty-three years of successful teaching experience, Singh is known for his excellent classroom management skills and dedication to student education. His innovative approach extends to conducting art workshops and leading the Art Department as HOD from 2001 to 2003 and from 2022 to the present. He has also contributed to the editorial boards of Bishop Cotton School magazines, ‘The Cottonian’ and ‘The Pegasus’. Additionally, Singh participated in the ‘Round Square’ programme in Kutchh in 2001.
Singh’s awards and recognitions include the State Award at the Kala Mela in 2000 from the Himachal Art Academy, All India Exhibition Awards in 2002, 2010 and 2012 from the State Museum, Shimla, and a Citation of Honour in 2003 from Bishop Cotton School. He was also featured in an article in the Times of Shimla on January 19, 2013.
His exhibition history is extensive, featuring group shows and solo exhibitions across various platforms. Notable exhibitions include group shows at the Himachal State Museum, Chandigarh, Panchkula and online platforms. Singh has held solo exhibitions at the Indus Art Gallery, Punjab Kala Bhawan and has participated in recent online and in-person group shows, including the Gaiety Theatre in Shimla.
