Auckland School Carnival A Hit with All

aucky_30.5.15The Auckland House School carnival was held here today in the school premises as the event was declared open by Dr. Meenakshi F. Paul, Professor, Centre for Evening Studies, Himachal Pradesh University, and an Alumna of Auckland House School, Shimla. Dr. Paul thoroughly enjoyed the fete and said that it took her back in time, when she was a pupil here. She commended the school for the excellent arrangements as it is an annual event of the school, wherein the staff members and students work in unison to put up various stalls.

The school ground was enveloped with colourful tents that housed various stalls offering everything from mouth watering eatables to different types of game stalls. A rush was seen at almost all the counters, yummy delectable included biryani, hot dogs, channa batura, gol gappas, sandwiches, bhel puri, tikki and much more, while the game counters had equally long lines as children waited for their turns. The little ones were excited playing computer games, and at the same time, the more sporty ones hooked on to other games such as ring game, necking the bottle, hitting the target, lucky dip, lucky seven, racing the horse and many other enjoyable games. The request corner too was a crowded scene as various songs were played on as per wishes of the students.

To beat the heat a special counter was in place serving water, while aerated drinks, cold coffee and ice creams were added attractions. Students from various schools in Shimla were seen having a gala time at the carnival as they graced the occasion with their presence.

Manning various stalls weraucky1_30.5.15e Tapasya mam for Face Painting; Smriti and Alka Mam on Cold Drinks; Mrs monika on Gol Gappas; Manita and Shweta on Mehndi helped by students Baldeena and Manandeep; Smriti and Ekta mam were at Pop Corn and Sandwich stalls as they were assisted by Tenzin and Varuna; Nishu mam was looking after Bhel Puri; Upasana, Jyotsana, Sameena and Vandana were on Biryani Stall; Fresh Corn Stall was looked after Sheetal mam with the help of Kajol, Khyati, Zeenia and Aishwarya. The proactive students helping with various games were Wheel of Fortune – Shambhvi Rao; Shivani Chauhan; Lucky Seven – Sakshi Chauhan and Amisha Nanda; Splat the Ball – Pragya, Anshika, Shivani, Arushi Sharma, Shreya Gupta and Arushi Monga among other.

The computer zone was another hit with the boys as they lined up play some action games on the computer. Teachers Disha, Mandakini and Sonu manned the station with the help of Shachi, Yashika, Ritika, Aparna, Adveta, Sakshi and Jai Prabha.

Director-Principal Sunita John lauded the efforts of her staff and the students for making this carnival a grand success.
