The second day of St. Edward’s School’s centenary celebrations unfolded with solemn grace and cultural splendour as the school hosted “Lumen Sequere – To Follow the Light”, an evocative evening held in the historic school hall. The event celebrated not only the legacy of the past but also the luminous path the school continues to pave for future generations.

The evening began with the planting of a sapling and the unveiling of a statue of Blessed Edmund Rice by Chief Guest His Lordship Bishop Ignatius L. Mascarenhas, symbolising hope, service, and the enduring Edwardian values. He was accompanied by Rev. Fr. Anil Sequeira and other dignitaries, whose presence lent great significance to the occasion.

A student-led introduction honoured Bishop Edward Kenealy and the Irish Christian Brothers, recognising their visionary role in establishing a school that has stood for a hundred years as a beacon of faith, learning, and character.

The ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest and dignitaries reinforced the Edwardian ethos — a light of wisdom and service that continues to shine through generations.

The cultural segment featured a powerful stage adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol and an expressive dance performance titled “Lumen”, both conveying themes of redemption, resilience, and the triumph of light over darkness — values deeply embedded in the school’s identity.

Academic excellence was also recognised during the Awards Ceremony, where students of the CBSE Class X Board (2024–2025) were felicitated for their hard work and achievements.

In his address, Bishop Mascarenhas praised St. Edward’s for its century-long contribution to holistic education, urging students to carry forward the legacy as torchbearers of truth, compassion, and service.

The evening concluded with a sequence of symbolic events — the Flag Hoisting, the School Anthem, cake cutting, and the Ceremony of Light — uniting all present in a celebration of pride, unity, and renewal. It was a stirring tribute to a hundred years of light, leadership, and learning that continues to inspire.
