Aadil Bedi was awarded the Indian sports honour by Virat Kohli and Aamir Khan hosted by the Virat Kohli Foundation (VKF), as more than 15 Bollywood star and 70 sportsperson attended the function at Mumbai. The selection was based upon three International Medal this year and 12 years golf playing record of 274 matches across the globe and winning 165 medals and trophy.
Aadil Bedi, 16 years of age and a Class XI student of Vivek High School Chandigarh, made the city proud when he was selected by the Virat Kohli Foundation for National Sports Award “Indian Sports Honour” as the young budding golfer of the year.
He was among seven other sportsperson from different sports, who were given this honour in presense of 70 Sportspersons including Olympians and Asian Champions. Jury members were Gopy Chand, PT Usha and other three international Olympians. Aadil was titled as the “Future Star Champion” by Aamir Khan while handing over the award.
Visibly happy, Aadil said after the function, “It is like a dream to meet Saina Nehwal, Sania Mirja, Virat Kohli, Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Akshay Kumar, Hardik Pandaya and Gopy Chand. I felt like that I am watching a TV show. It was eye opener to see such big stars cheering for me”.
Aadil said that after meeting Virat Kohli, “I have to work harder to achieve something in my life.” Virat Kohli, Captain Team India, promised Aadil to help him in the fitness and nutrition guidance and training for next three years from professional team from his VKF Foundation.
Aadil has been selected to represent India in the Australia tour as he will be playing 4 Amateur matches namely Australian Masters of Men’s Amateur Championship 2018 at Melbourne, Australian Amateur at Perth, NSW Amateur Championship at Canberra, Avondale Medal at Sydney in January 2018.
