Aadil Bedi, only 14 years old and a student of Class IX, Vivek High School Chandigarh, while playing in the Eastern India Golf Championship, at Tollygung Golf Club Kolkata, shot brilliant 70, 68,74 and 68 and won the championship in a tight sudden death playoff. Aadil said, “This was my best win and it was test of my patience under highest level of pressure. I told myself before playoffs that I practiced a whole year to see this moment. Just play golf”.
Aadil played very aggressive golf over all four days and shot 12 birdies and 2 eagles on tight fairways and fast greens of Tolly Golf Club. Aadil was 2 shots behind on last day, and thanks to 3 birdies on holes 9, 10 and 12 and an Eagle on 13th hole, which forced the playoff at close of day four. Aadil was tied at a score of 280 after four day score.
With this win, Aadil moved from 2nd position to become front runner for top honors in All India Merit by Indian Golf Union with 332 point and took a lead by 32 points from 2nd position. All India Junior final is scheduled to play from today. “I am doing my practice round at Royal Calcutta Golf Club RCGC Kolkata. I am not taking my competitors lightly for the All India finals. They all are very experienced and all of us have been playing golf since the last decade together”, Aadil added.
Aadil works under Director CGA Golf Academy Jesse Grewal for his golf coaching, under Dr Gurmeet Singh for athletic training, and general fitness with Sagar Dewan. Aadil said from Kolkata that his confidence level has gone up after the exciting win last week and will take all India finals more seriously.
