AHS Boys showcase athletic prowess at Annual Sports Day

Welcoming the Chief Guest Ms. Suman Rawat, Vice President, Athletic Federation of India

Auckland House School for Boys, Shimla celebrated its Annual Sports Day for Upper Primary Section with enthusiasm and team spirit on May 9, 2024. The event showcased the school’s commitment to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among the students.

The day commenced with the Guard of Honour given to the Chief Guest of the day Ms. Suman Rawat, Vice President, Athletic Federation of India, she holds the distinguished title of being first female Arjuna Awardee from Himachal Pradesh. She motivated the participants with her inspiring words.

The colorful march past by students from various houses filled with a sense of unity and sportsmanship. Students showcased their athletic prowess and team spirit through a variety of track and field events, including Flat Race, Baton Race, Ball Relay and Skating Race. Parents’ race was also held to involve parents in the event. Through Taekwondo and Yoga, students showcased the harmony of physical and mental well- being with vibrant display of Taekwondo and Yoga.

Students from classes Ill to V guided by experienced instructors demonstrated their agility, discipline and inner strength through dynamic Taekwondo forms and serene Yoga postures. The cheering and encouragement from teachers, parents and fellow students added to the excitement of the day. The event not only highlighted the importance of physical fitness but also emphasized the role of mental focus and mindfulness in achieving holistic health.

The event concluded with a sense of achievement and renewed enthusiasm for embracing a balanced lifestyle. The school’s commitment to holistic education was evident as student showcased their prowess in these ancient disciplines, leaving a lasting impression on attendees. The closing ceremony honoured the winners and participants, emphasizing the importance of sports in overall personality development.

The day concluded with a vote of thanks extended by the School Principal Mr. Reuben T. John, thanking everyone who contributed to making the event a grand success. Durrant House lifted the Sports Shield followed by Lefroy House in second position. Marching Cup was claimed by Lefroy House. The event closed with the National Anthem.
