Sports build good habits, confidence and discipline. They make players into community leaders and teach them how to strive for a goal, handle mistakes and cherish growth opportunities. No opportunity is better than a sports day for a child to get encouraged and inspired.

Students of Auckland House School for Boys, Shimla held its Annual Senior Section Sports Day here today. Mandeep Rana, Principal, Saraswati Paradise International School, Shimla, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event started with the Guard of Honour followed by the Inter House March Past.

Various activities were conducted like colorful PT display, gymnastics, taekwondo, skating and aerobics that not only helped students to demonstrate their physical strength but also taught them the lesson of team work, compassion and empathy. As one says, sports teaches you character, it teaches you to play by the rules, it teaches you to know what it feels like to win, and lose – it teaches you about life. (CLICK TO SEE ALL VIDEOS)

It was a day filled with fervor and excitement. A large number of parents witnessed the Senior Section Sports Day. School Principal Michael A. John thanked the Chief Guest for accepting the invitation, teachers for their guidance, and support staff for taking care of all the physical arrangements.

It doesn’t matter whether you are pursuing success in business, sports, the arts, or life in general – the bridge between wishing and accomplishing is discipline. The Overall Trophy was won by Lefroy House. Bhuvnesh Thakur was adjudged as Best Gymnast, while Priyanshu Sharma lifted the Best Athlete Trophy.

Speaking on the occasion Rana said, “Life offers you a lot and one should know the importance of the right decision. If you want to go fast you should walk alone and if you want to go far you need to have a good company and this is where teamwork comes into play. One should strive for ones goal and never give up no matter what it takes.”

The event concluded with the National Anthem.
