In a press statement issued here today, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh accused the BJP leaders of disrespecting Himachal Pradesh across the country for electoral gains. He said that the BJP leaders were undermining the dignity of the 75 lakh people of the state by spreading lies and engaging themselves in petty politics aimed at misleading the public for political mileage. Anirudh Singh said that the present state government had surpassed its promises in its two-year tenure.

He said that five out of ten commitments have already been fulfilled and the remaining promises were being implemented in a phased manner. From restoring the old pension scheme for 1.36 lakh NPS employees to fulfilling promises like providing a minimum support price for natural produce and offering monthly assistance for women, the Congress government had prioritized the people over politics.

Initiatives like the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Mahila Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana where Rs.1500 were being given to 2.85 lakh eligible women, Rs. 680 crore Rajiv Gandhi Start-up scheme under which the subsidy was being given to purchase e-taxi and 50 percent subsidy on the installation of solar panels in private land had proven boon for the general masses.

Apart from this the State Government had successfully started English medium in all government schools from 1st class and Himachal had become the first state in the country to provide a minimum support price of Rs. 45 for cow milk and Rs. 55 for buffalo milk. The Minister said that due to the efforts of the present State Government, Himachal had become the first state to make law to ensure the care of 6,000 destitute children which reflects its concern for social welfare.

Apart from this, the state government was organizing Revenue Lok Adalats, a first of its kind initiative, to resolve long-pending land issues and as of now had successfully addressed over 2.25 lakh cases. The Rural Development Minister advised the Opposition to engage constructively in the development of the state, instead of focusing on criticism and sensationalism merely to gain headlines.
