Art Excellence during 64th All India Dance and Drama Competition

The on going 64th All India Association Dance and Drama Competition is giving spectators a brilliant entertainment bonanza as each presentation is bringing a new life to the competition. In this chapter more than 400 artists have taken part from a record 22 states this time and each one is putting their best foot forward to win for the coveted trophy.

A number of plays were staged at Gaiety Theater on the second day where as quite a few scintillating dance performances brought the rich culture of our nation to life at the Kalibari Hall. Artists at Gaiety gave few presentations as few of the plays enacted today were – Safai, Shooting Shooting, Sabhayata Tum Khaan?, Kaise Yeh Zindagi, Kafan, Priya Mittra, Hum Zinda Hai, Taa Hum Kunwaare Rahe. Amit, Avinash Payal and Sunil Rishi, each one a master in their field judged the dance competition based on the choreography, expression, costume, technique as well as coordination. The competition finale will be held on 10th June, 2019 where the winners will be awarded with a token as well as cash prizes.

Speaking on the occasion Rekha Gaur, organizer of the event, said, “This year few new features have been added in the event to promote art and culture in the state as well as the country. First thing is the introduction of scholarships, one each in drama and dance, to encourage young talented artists and to fund them for further improving their art by giving them an opportunity to train professionally. Second was the Lifetime Achievement Award which will be given for the first time this year on the final day.”
