The Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, has approved financial assistance to M/s Electrowaves Electronics Pvt. Ltd., Parwanoo, Himachal Pradesh, for the commercialisation of fully indigenous EV chargers. This initiative supports India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision by reducing dependence on imported charging solutions and accelerating the nation’s transition to clean electric mobility.

Electrowaves has developed in-house AC and DC fast chargers along with critical components such as Power Modules, Insulation Monitoring Devices, and Communication Controllers. The DC fast chargers operate in the 30–240 kW range, with features including:

  • 15 kW & 30 kW Power Converter Modules (100–1000 VDC output, 100A max current)

  • PLC Communication Controller (DIN SPEC 70121 compliant, partially ISO 15118)

  • OCPP Communication Controller (OCPP 1.6J and 2.0.1 compliant)

  • Universal DC Charge Controller with full HMI design

The company has also developed AC Type-2 chargers suitable for domestic and public use, enhancing the availability of high-efficiency, India-made EV charging infrastructure.

The TDB’s support is expected to scale up production, strengthen India’s domestic supply chains in clean energy and strategic sectors, and contribute to net-zero emissions goals, while bolstering the country’s competitiveness in the global EV market.

Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary, TDB, said, “The commercialisation of indigenous EV chargers demonstrates India’s commitment to innovation-driven self-reliance, energy security, and sustainable industrial growth, accelerating the nation’s shift toward clean mobility.”

Electrowaves Electronics expressed gratitude for the support, noting that it will expand manufacturing capacity and further India’s clean energy ambitions. This initiative reinforces TDB’s commitment to promoting Make in India, fostering indigenous technology, and building strong domestic capabilities in next-generation transportation systems.
