Annual Day is among one of the most awaited days for all and as the session is on the verge of ending, students of Auckland House School for Boys celebrated their Speech Day for senior classes in the school auditorium. Dinkar Burathoki, Director of Higher Education, Shimla, graced the occasion with his presence as chief guest for the occasion, who was deeply touched with the talent showcased by the students during the cultural programme. He appreciated the hard work and toil put in by the staff and the students. The day kick started with a warm welcome by School Principal Michael A. John and the lighting of the lamp followed by a vibrant and scintillating cultural programme. Director Principal, Auckland House School, Sunita John was also present on the occasion.
Students of school sang a hymn Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart. After that came the turn of displaying acting talent by the young students as they performed an English play The Dear Departed Stanley Houghton that showcased the condition of the elderly people who are being abandoned and neglected by their own children. The play was optimistic that even elderly people may choose to live merrily, despite their old age. They can even opt to marry at old age to lead a happy life.
After the play junior choir sang a melodious song It’s a Great Thing to Praise the Lord which was followed by a colorful Koli Dance – Me Hi Koli. Senior choir sang another song Hasta Manana. Then came the turn for a Hindi play – Paiso Ka Ped – portraying that to lend a helping hand to anyone can only make one feel happy and one can drive true satisfaction from it. To make a difference in anyone’s life size does not matter as it’s the intention to help that counts.
Satvik Guleri’s piano recital touched everyone’s soul in the hall. Another entertaining feature of show was a band performance by the school band Sultan of Swing Jambalaya. Then the colours of Kashmir came alive on stage as students performed a fusion of Dogri and Kashmiri dance on the song – Bumro Bumro.
Thereafter, the Principal Mr. Michael A. John presented the annual report of the school highlighting the achievements and laurels won by the school. Following students were awarded for their outstanding performance during the year 2015.
