bcs.19.9.15aThe students of Bishop Cotton School impressed all with their remarkably fine acting skills during the Inter House Hindi One act Play competition held here today. School Headmaster Christopher Robinson and his wife Dorothy Robinson were also present on the occasion to support the students. Four entertaining plays presented by the boys were Chor Kaun Hai, The Proposal, Shaadi Ki Baat and Humshakal.

The first house to get on the stage was Lefroy, who showcased Chor Kaun Hai focussing on the level to which the human beings have fallen, on the practices that they have permitted to enter the society and on the struggle of a solitary police inspector in his quest to expose corruption. This witty play portrayed how in today’s world corruption has become more of a regular practice. The actors who represented Lefroy House were Aditya Raj Bhudhia, Saurabh Sharma, Armaan Sandhu, Dhruv Bhardwaj, Mehar Bhangoo, Jaideep Panesar, Rythm Sachdeva, Dhruv Sood, Manik Goel and Navpal Khaira.  The play was followed by a melodious house song ‘Lefroyans Come Out the Best’.

bcs.19.9.15The next performers who set the stage on fire with their quirky and musical performance, Shaadi Ki Baat, were the boys of Ibbetson House, showing the varied traditions of India and great pomp and show that follows each occasion. The plot revolves around a marriage proposal being brought in by the parents of a boy and negotiations which lead to highly peculiar and amusing situations. The names of the young actors were Abhishek Behl, D. Chauhan, D. Sangwan, Rapeesh Mourya and A. Agarwal. To end the play on a musical note, the Ibbetsonions proudly sang their House song, ‘From Strength To Strength We Go’.

The young lads of Rivaz House presented a bone tickling play, Humshakal, story of a happy lawyer Sajjad, whose life turns topsy-turvy when a look alike goon T.M.K. enters his life and creates a huge confusion in his personal as well as professional life. Name of a few performers of the play are Dikshant Chauhan, Ishaan Sharma, Shubham Sharma, Rudraksh Pandey, Hemang Jindal, Somesh Malik, Vaibhav Agarwal, Paramraj Singh Gill and Riteshwar Malhi.

The evening had a perfect ending with the boys of Curzon House staging The Proposal, a one act play based on the social practices prevalent in the country. Ghoonghroo Seth, father of a young girl Pooja, who on being forced by her father agrees to marry Majnu only, a 25 year old heart patient. Majnu’s heart problems and impatience lead to several other comic fights between the two. The actors portraying different characters in the play were Rahul Mahendru, Prabhat Agarwal, Kaartik Walia, Vasu Bindra, Mehakdeep and Kanishk Sirodhi.

The final house positions were as follows 1st Ibbetson House, 2nd Lefory House, 3rd Curzon House , 4th Rivaz House. The solo performer prizes were awarded to Best Male – Abhishel Behl and Best Female Role – D Sanwan.
