In a high-level meeting of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh announced the establishment of Regional BIRAC Centers across India in collaboration with states. These centers will accelerate biomanufacturing, startups, and biotech innovation, unlocking the country’s full potential in the biotechnology sector.

✔ Creation of Bio E3 (Economy, Environment, Employment) Cells – Assam is the first state to set up a dedicated Bio E3 Cell

✔ Tripartite Model for Growth – Connecting Research Infrastructure, Startups, and Industrial R&D

Strengthening India’s Bio-Economy

Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized the importance of early industry linkages and the 4P Model (Public-Private-People Partnership) for rapid biotech growth. He highlighted that India ranks 3rd in global biotech research publications, with nearly two-thirds of research papers originating from DBT-funded projects, reflecting India’s rising influence in the global biotech arena.

Driving the ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ Vision

The Government’s vision is to position India as a global biotech leader, ensuring that biomanufacturing, research, and innovation drive the country’s economic and scientific growth. The success of India’s space sector will serve as a model to replicate in biotech and regenerative technologies.
