Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today laid the foundation stones for infrastructure and site development works worth around ₹260 crore under the Bulk Drug Park project at Polian Beet in Haroli subdivision of Una district. He also laid the foundation stone of a Working Women Hostel at Panjuana, to be built at a cost of about ₹10 crore, aimed at providing safe accommodation for women working in nearby industrial areas.

The Chief Minister said that the Bulk Drug Park is a project of national importance and directed officials to ensure visible progress within the next six to eight months. He added that the project would generate large-scale employment opportunities for local youth and transform the region into a modern industrial hub.

He stated that the industrial complex, being developed at an estimated cost of around ₹2,000 crore, will significantly strengthen India’s pharmaceutical sector by boosting domestic production of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and reducing dependency on imports. He noted that only three such parks are being developed in the country, with Haroli being one of them, which is a matter of pride for Himachal Pradesh.

The Chief Minister said the project is being jointly funded by the Centre and the State, with investments of about ₹1,000 crore each. He also emphasized ongoing reforms in education and welfare schemes, stating that Himachal Pradesh has improved its national ranking in education after implementation of CBSE curriculum in government schools.

He further said that despite financial constraints due to reduction in central grants, the state government is committed to development and welfare initiatives. He highlighted schemes such as the Dr. Y.S. Parmar Vidyarthi Rin Yojana, offering education loans at just 1% interest for higher studies.

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said that the Haroli region is being developed as an industrial hub with strong infrastructure support. He informed that water supply projects worth around ₹66 crore have been completed, while a proposed 5 km railway link with an estimated cost of ₹3,400 crore will connect the park to the national rail network, boosting logistics and investment.

Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan said power infrastructure works worth ₹32.76 crore are underway to ensure uninterrupted industrial supply. He added that site development work has begun with environmental compliance and large-scale infrastructure planning, including steam generation systems and advanced industrial facilities.

The project is expected to attract investments of ₹8,000–10,000 crore and generate nearly 20,000 jobs, positioning Una as an emerging industrial centre. It will also include modern environmental safeguards such as a Zero Liquid Discharge-based effluent treatment plant and hazardous waste management systems.

Senior officials, legislators, and representatives of various industrial associations were present on the occasion.
