The first ever Shimla Winter Carnival organized by 95.0 BIG FM, India’s Largest Radio Network, perfectly embodies the famous saying by an amusing character created by American writer and illustrator Dr. Seuss, “Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one”.
The biggest New Year celebrations Shimla has ever witnessed, won hearts of not only the local residents but also innumerable tourists that poured in during this period. The former summer capital was filled with tunes of some mesmerizing music, breathtaking dances, celebrity performances, games, gifts and much more. Talented Radio Jockey’s of 95.0 Big FM including RJ Abhinanadan and RJ Akriti, blessed with gift of the gab added to the fabulous flavours of the carnival.
The event was inaugurated by Mohan Chauhan, Director of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Corporation. The second day of the event was filled with local folk dances and songs, loved by all visitors coming from the various parts of Himachal. The Rock band from Shimla, Delhi and Hisar rocked the stage with their remarkable performances on the third day. The bands included Faith, Soul Portrait, Atharva and Punk and the Chronicles. The most loved popular melodies by Soul Portrait including Kabira and Dil se and the soulful tunes of Kailash Kher by The Punk and the Chronicles ruled the hearts of the people.
The Comedy Nights on the fourth day of the event tickled the funny bone of the people and made them laugh to the fullest. Kavita Kaushik, Kaushik best known for her portrayal of Chandramukhi Chautala on SAB TV sitcom F.I.R. was the star attraction at the BIG Shimla Carnival.
Kavita Kaushik; popular for her comic timing; was present to promote the show ‘Fakebook with Kavita’ which was enjoyed by all.
Excited to lead the show, actress Kavita Kaushik said that she was glad to be associated with this unique show and genuinely believed that such shows are needed in the current times. The comedy idol, Rajeev Thakur renowned for his performances in Comedy Nights with Kapil and Comedy Circus was also present on the occasion to entertain the audience.
The very popular band The Local Train also performed on the fifth day of the festival and made the audience swing on the tunes of the famous originals like Choo Lo and Bandey. A band from Delhi, Antariksh also performed on the same day. Celebrating the inner mystical dimension of a soul, the sixth day was infused with some soulful tunes of Dhruv Sufi Project and Dr Mamta Joshi, one of the renowned sufi singers of the state. The carnival ended with a magnificent DJ night organized on the New Year’s Eve.
The 95.0 Shimla Station Head, Gitish Chopra brought in all the elements of fun together to make this event a huge success and we hope to witness the Big Shimla carnival’s magic every year.
