On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, the District Red Cross Society, Shimla organized a blood donation camp at Ridge Ground, Shimla. The event was inaugurated by Abhishek Verma, Additional Deputy Commissioner, District Shimla.
Abhishek Verma said that donating blood is a noble act and every eligible person in society should participate so that patients in need can receive blood in time. A total of 29 units of blood were collected in the camp with the cooperation of Lions Club Shimla.
Hemant Jokta, Secretary of the District Red Cross Society, informed that the camp was organized under the guidance and instructions of the Deputy Commissioner Shimla and Society President Anupam Kashyap. Highlighting the importance of blood donation, he said that donating blood not only saves others’ lives but is also beneficial for the health of the donor.
The Blood Bank team of Kamla Nehru Hospital, Shimla, led by Dr. Kanchan Singh, provided their services at the camp, and all 29 units of collected blood were deposited in their blood bank.
On this occasion, the district administration expressed gratitude to the donors and appealed to others in society to donate blood regularly to ensure that no patient in Shimla district faces a shortage of blood.
