Buddha Purnima is one of the most scared festivals in India for Buddhists. Lord Buddha told the importance of spirituality. It is also called as Visakah Pooja in India. It is celebrated to memorise Lord Buddha. He is also known as Prince Siddhartha. He was born in Nepal. He left his family at a very young age and chose an ascetic way of life. He almost spent his 45 years of life in religious teachings. Lord Siddhartha founded the Buddhism religion. The Purnima night is referred to as one of the religious days in India.

It is celebrated on the first full moon day in the month of May and June also, it is except for the leap year when this festival is celebrated in the month of June.

People prepare ‘kheer’ and it is considered a symbolic dish of the festival. The tradition of celebrating Buddha Purnima is different from region to region and from country to country.
