Budget 2026: Farming Takes Center Stage

Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania praised Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for promoting natural farming in the Budget 2026-27. He called on the Chief Minister and presented ‘Kachnar’ flowers as a token of appreciation for the government’s initiatives.

Chief Minister Sukhu highlighted that the State Government is actively working to strengthen the rural economy. The procurement price of cow milk has been raised to Rs. 61 per litre and buffalo milk to Rs. 71 per litre. Financial assistance for transporting milk to collection centres has also been increased from Rs. 3 to Rs. 6 per litre.

The Chief Minister further announced that the minimum support price for naturally grown crops has been significantly increased: wheat and barley to Rs. 80 per kilogram, maize to Rs. 50 per kilogram, and turmeric to Rs. 150 per kilogram. For the first time, ginger has been included under MSP at Rs. 30 per kilogram to benefit farmers. Additionally, a milk processing plant is being set up at Dhagwar in Kangra district with an investment of Rs. 200 crore.
