As the echoes of India’s 77th Republic Day faded, the historic Red Fort became a vibrant showcase of the nation’s culture during Bharat Parv 2026, the six-day festival organised by the Ministry of Tourism. Running from January 26 to 31, the event invited visitors to explore India’s rich cultural, artistic, culinary, and spiritual heritage while promoting initiatives like “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” and “Dekho Apna Desh.”
This year’s festival held special significance as it marked 150 years of “Vande Mataram”, celebrating the revolutionary spirit and unity in diversity that define modern India.
Visitors experienced India one pavilion at a time. Forty-one Republic Day tableaux brought the nation’s stories to life, while 48 cultural performances—from folk dances to classical music—resonated across multiple stages. Armed Forces and paramilitary bands added a stirring patriotic note to the celebrations.
The festival’s culinary arena, with over 60 regional food stalls, showcased India’s gastronomic diversity, from tribal delicacies and millet-based dishes to iconic regional favourites. Handicrafts, handlooms, and over 100 curated stalls highlighted generations of skill and creativity, while State and Union Territory pavilions promoted tourism and public initiatives interactively.
Bharat Parv encouraged active participation, with children’s zones, quizzes, street plays, and digital exhibits making heritage accessible to all generations. The festival also featured public health demonstrations, interactive science exhibits, and platforms for young entrepreneurs like Riksrang Momin from Meghalaya to share their community-based initiatives.
Concluding on 31 January with the Vice President of India as Chief Guest, Bharat Parv 2026 reaffirmed that India’s strength lies in its people, traditions, and shared cultural inheritance, offering visitors a sensory and emotional journey through the nation’s living heritage.
