In a major ecological push ahead of World Environment Day, the Himachal Eco Warriors of the 133 Eco Task Force (ETF) have launched an ambitious campaign to plant 75,000 saplings across the region. This massive afforestation drive commenced at Chamiyana, organized in joint collaboration with Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVN) and the Himachal Pradesh Forest Department.
With a core focus on ecological restoration, the drive prioritizes native tree species to enrich local biodiversity and ensure long-term environmental sustainability. Parallel to the planting efforts, the task force launched community outreach programs to educate and sensitize local residents on the critical importance of forest conservation.
The campaign was officially inaugurated by Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel) of SJVN Ltd., who planted a ceremonial walnut sapling. The launch took place in the presence of Pankaj Porwaal (ITES), Chief Vigilance Officer of SJVN, alongside dedicated personnel from the 133 Eco Task Force, SJVN, and the state forest department.
This environmental initiative is a key component of the broader “Know Your TA Mela” framework. The campaign will culminate during the upcoming mela, highlighting the Territorial Army’s Ecological Task Force units and their sustained, frontline dedication to national conservation and green development.
