Chief Secretary Reviews NH and NHAI on Going Projects in the State

Chief Secretary Ram Subhag Singh reviewed the on on-going construction projects of National Highways (NH) and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) here today. The Chief Secretary directed the executing agencies to work in coordination to complete all the projects in a time bound manner. He fixed the time limit for completion of all the works and also directed to submit progress reports of construction works from time to time. He said that the state has 2591 kms long 19 National Highways out of which 1025 kms were being maintained and developed through the Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department.

Chief Secretary said that 213 km NH sanctioned under World Bank Funded Green Highways are being maintained by Union Ministry of Road Transport Highways, 784 km by NHAI and 569 kms. are being maintained and developed by Border Road Organization (BRO). He also gave directions regarding construction of bridges, rock stabilization, rock fall mitigation and land acquisition issues. He directed for timely completion of repair work on Shimla-Mataur road from Shimla to Ghandal, Brahmapukhar to Kandaur bridge via Ghaghas and Hamirpur to Nadaun stretch.

 The Chief Secretary directed to expedite the maintenance of roads from Bindravani to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Pandoh on Chandigarh-Mandi-Manali road, Khushinagar near Nurpur on Pathankot-Chakki-Mandi road and Khaliyar near Mandi. Ram Subhag Singh also directed the concerned departments to conduct joint inspection of the construction sites so that the works could be expedited. Principal Secretary Public Works Department Bharat Khera, Senior officers of National Highways, NHAI, Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Forest, H.P. State Electricity Board Limited and other departments also participated in the meeting. Deputy commissioners of various districts of the state and senior officers of the central government also attended the meeting virtually.
