Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur during his one day tour to Pachhad and Shillai Vidhan areas of Sirmaur district today inaugurated and laid foundation stones of developmental projects worth about Rs 500 crore. At Shillai, Chief Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones of 30 developmental projects worth over Rs. 175 crore, whereas earlier in the day at Sarahan in Pachhad Assembly Segment inaugurated and laid foundation stones of 55 developmental projects worth about Rs 315 crore.
While addressing a largely attended meeting at Shillai, Chief Minister announced opening of SDM office at Kafota, Electric Division at Shillai, Electric Sub Division at Kafota, PWD Sub Division at Timbi, Sabzi Mandi at Timbi, IPH Inspection Hut at Timbi, Primary Health Centres at Panog, Jarwa and Chandni. He also announced Rs. 1.50 crore for Lift Water Supply Scheme for Shillai.
Jai Ram Thakur also announced upgradation of three Government High Schools Pohta Manal, Khando and Shakoli to Government Senior Secondary Schools, Middle School Gundan to Government High School and Primary School Shanlian to Government Middle School besides starting of science classes in Government Senior Secondary Schools Bandli Dadas and Mila.
He announced opening of DSP Office at Shillai and Police Station at Kafota in district Sirmaur. He also announced opening of Primary School at Jarwa.
Chief Minister said that Shillai area has remained neglected in terms of development despite the fact that the area remained with Congress party for about five decades. He said that during his last visit to the area, he has announced several developmental projects for the area such as Civil Judge Court, ITI, Police Station, Sub Division of Jal Shakti etc. He said that today also he has made a history by dedicating and laying foundation stone of projects worth Rs 500 crore in Pachhad and Shillai Vidhan Sabha area of Sirmour district.
Jai Ram Thakur said that during the present tenure of the State Government, it has ensured equitable and balanced development of every section of the society and every area of the State. He said that despite the fact that about one and a half year of the present tenure was adversely affected due to the corona pandemic, the State Government ensured that it comes upto the developmental aspirations of the people of the State. He also thanked the people for giving their wholehearted support to the government during the pandemic to fight this virus.
While taking a jibe at the Congress leaders for giving him suggestions to fight the pandemic, Chief Minister said that it would have been better had they advised their leaders of Punjab and Rajasthan, where the situation was far more adverse. He said that these Congress leaders were posing as if they have vast experience of fighting this pandemic. He also accused the State Congress leaders of raising bills worth Rs 12 crore to its Party High Command claiming that they have distributed masks and sanitizers worth this amount which was false.
Jai Ram Thakur said that as soon as the present State Government assumed office in the State, it has lowered the age of senior citizens to avail the benefits of old age pension without income limit from 80 years to 70 years. Not only this, now this age limit for old women has been lowered further from 70 years to 65 years. He also detailed various development and welfare schemes launched by the State Government.

Members of Hatti Committee and Pradhans, SMC Union Shallai, representatives of 23 nearby panchayats of the area, Vaopar Mandal Shillai, several cultural and social organizations honoured the Chief Minister on the occasion.
Power Minister Sukh Ram Chaudhary urged the Chief Minister to open Electrical Divisions at Shillai and Kafota. He thanked the Chief Minister for always being considerate towards the developmental aspirations of the people of Sirmour district.
Member of Parliament and State BJP President Suresh Kashyap thanked the Chief Minister for dedicating developmental projects worth about Rs 500 crore during his one day tour to Sirmour district. He said that the Chief Minister was always concerned towards the developmental demands of the people of the area which have remained neglected in the matter of development.
Vice Chairman State Civil Supplies Corporation Baldev Tomar, while welcoming the Chief Minister to Shillai Vidhan Sabha area, thanked the Chief Minister for announcing several developmental schemes for the area during his last visit to Shillai in October, 2018. He said that today also the Chief Minister has inaugurated and laid foundation stone of developmental projects worth crores of rupees in the area. He also detailed a few developmental demands of the area. He also urged the Chief Minister to develop the area from tourism point of view so that youth of the area could get better opportunities of employment and self-employment. He also urged the Chief Minister to again take up the matter of declaring Trans-Giri area of the Constituency as Scheduled Tribe area.
