In a significant step toward inclusive healthcare, CM Sukhu flagged off 12 electric scooters from his official residence, Oak Over, in Shimla. These e-scooters will be used to provide doorstep medical services—such as delivery of medicines, screening, and counseling—for patients with HIV, STIs, Tuberculosis, and Hepatitis in eight districts of Himachal Pradesh.
This is the first-of-its-kind outreach model in the state, designed to ensure continuous access to treatment and improve the quality of life for patients. The initiative is being implemented by the Health Department through the State AIDS Control Society and supports the broader mission of viral load suppression among HIV patients.
Commending the efforts of the State AIDS Control Society and Health Department, the Chief Minister highlighted the contribution of Red Ribbon Clubs, educational institutions, and NGOs in creating HIV awareness. He reaffirmed the government’s goal of making Himachal Pradesh HIV-free, noting that over 6,000 people in the state are living with HIV, most of whom have achieved viral suppression.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the dual benefit of this initiative—expanding healthcare access while promoting electric vehicles for environmental sustainability.
Health Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil shared that 471 Red Ribbon Clubs are operational across educational institutions, and collaborative programs like the Adolescent Education Programme and partnerships with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan continue to raise awareness among youth.
The event was attended by senior officials, including MLAs and health authorities, marking a forward step in accessible and sustainable healthcare delivery in the state.
