Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhu today inaugurated the South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship-2026 at the Indira Gandhi State Sports Complex, Shimla. The championship, which runs until 11th April 2026, features over 100 players from five countries: India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, and Nepal.
Congratulating the participants, the Chief Minister highlighted that this is the first time such a prestigious event is being held in the state. He emphasized that the government is committed to strengthening sports infrastructure to encourage youth to consider sports as a professional career.
CM Sukhu also noted that sports provide young people with a positive direction, instilling discipline, dedication, and leadership qualities. He added that active involvement in sports helps youth stay away from social evils, including drug abuse, while promoting a healthy and focused lifestyle.
