CM on Ground in Nachan, Meets Affected Families

CM Sukhu on Thursday visited the disaster-affected villages of Baga, Syanj, and Panglyur in the Nachan Assembly Constituency of Mandi district to assess the damage caused by recent flash floods and landslides.

The Chief Minister met with grieving families, expressed condolences, and offered prayers for those who lost their lives. He assured the affected residents that the state government is fully committed to providing relief, compensation, and long-term rehabilitation.

During his visit, Sukhu personally inspected the extent of destruction to homes, livestock shelters, and public infrastructure. He also held on-the-spot interactions with villagers to understand their immediate needs and concerns.

In Panglyur, nine individuals were reported missing in flash floods. Four bodies have been recovered, and search operations are ongoing for the remaining five. In Baga, two lives were lost, and extensive damage occurred due to a hillside collapse that destroyed homes and killed livestock.

The Chief Minister assured that compensation would be provided for lost homes, cattle sheds, and livestock including cows, sheep, and goats. He also directed the district administration to make suitable arrangements for the safe stay and rehabilitation of displaced families.

He emphasized the government’s unwavering support for every family impacted by the calamity and reiterated that all possible measures will be taken to restore normalcy in the region.

Prominent leaders present included Chet Ram, Chandershekhar Raddey, Vijay Pal Singh, APMC Chairman Sanjeev Gularia, Jeevan Thakur, Naresh Chauhan, Laj Singh Kaushal, Pawan Thakur, along with Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan and SP Sakshi Verma.
