CM Presides Over Bhartiya Nav Samvatsar Parampara Utsav

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur presided over the Bhartiya Nav Samvatsar Parampara Utsav jointly organized by Thakur Ram Singh Itihas Shodh Sansthan Neri, District Hamirpur and Himachal Kala Sanskriti Bhasha Academy at Gaiety Theater in Shimla today. While speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister said that Chaitra Shukla Pratipada has special significance in Indian culture, as today’s auspicious day marks the Indian New Year. According to the traditional beliefs, the creation of the universe took place on this very day of Chaitra Pratipada. Jai Ram Thakur said that it is necessary to showcase our rich beliefs and traditions by means of functions like these so that it can be passed on to the next generation.

Chief Minister said that this festival is organised with great fervor and gaiety all across the country and in Himachal, the month of Chaitra has its own significance and for a month, folk singers go from house to house to congratulate the people on this auspicious occasion by means of traditional songs. Dr. Ravi Arya, Dr. Chetram Garg, Dr Krishna Mohan Pandey and Dr. Om Prakash Sharma expressed their views on the various aspects of Chaitra Pratipada and its religious-social and cultural significance. Hemraj Chandel and Dr. Lal Chand presented the Nav Samvatsar traditional songs Chaiti Geet and Gopal Sharma Dhami presented the folk Ramayana. Various other cultural programs were also organized by Himachal Pradesh Academy of Arts, Culture and Language on the occasion.  Secretary Language, Art and Culture Rakesh Kanwar, Secretary Himachal Kala Sanskriti Bhasha Academy Shimla Dr. Karm Singh were also present among others.
